Dolores, a curious ladybug, and Mike, an adventurous firefly, take audiences from the forest floor to the highest canopy in The Life of Trees — an animated fulldome show that turns tree biology into something you experience rather than just learn.
Director Peter Popp built the film around a simple challenge: directing attention inside a 360° environment while still telling a clear, scientifically grounded story about photosynthesis, water transport, and oxygen production. The result works for classrooms and general audiences alike.
It’s held up well over more than a decade in circulation, picking up the Spatial Sound Recognition Award in Jena (2013), Best Visual & Graphics at the Fulldome Film Festival Imiloa (2013), the Golden Star at IPMF Korea (2012), and second place for Best Fulldome Show at the Russian Film Festival in Yaroslavl (2013).
